Medicare will typically cover 80% of all Medicare- approved DME, after you meet your deductible. Supplemental insurance may cover the copay and / or deductible. Call the office today to get a better idea of costs and rental periods for medically necessary equipment.
Oxygen
When your oxygen equipment is covered, it will rent for a 36-month period. After your 36-month rental period, you will go into a 24-month Maintenance Period, where your supplier continues providing and maintaining equipment and supplies of up to a total of five (5) years, as long as you have a medical necessity for oxygen. The rental fee for this equipment is not charged during the Maintenance Period for the equipment. However, if you use tanks or cylinders, which require delivery of gaseous or liquid oxygen contents, Medicare will pay each month for the delivery of such contents during the Maintenance Period. This means you will be charged any applicable copayment for content delivery during the Maintenance Period. As long as medical necessity continues, a new 36-month period will restart once the 24-month Maintenance Period ends.
